Why so fearful?
With this topic in mind, I decided to do a search on how many times we see this word appear in the Bible (KJV):
afraid - 189 verses
fear- 385 verses
fearful - 11 verses
While several of the verses that contain the word fear are in reference to us having a respectful acknowledgment of God, the others are discussing the times that God's people were afraid.
Over the next four weeks. we will look at four accounts in the Word that will encourage us not to be afraid when God is on our side.
We will see that the Lord was not scolding them for their fear but reminding them that they didn't have to be afraid because He was with them. Even today, the Lord will speak this same truth to our hearts as we face scary circumstances if we will only pause and listen!
So, as we look at the thought, "Why so fearful?" take some time to reflect on the times you have been afraid in the past and how God met you in those moments. Write down all the ways you have been able to have peace even when you were afraid and how God has strengthened you to move forward in spite of your feelings.
As children of God, we can have reassurance that we face nothing alone. We can give our fears to God knowing that He is bigger than anything we might face.
